Attention Trainers: We need to address a pressing issue impacting the Pokémon GO Plus series of devices, including GO Plus and GO Plus+. Several Trainers have reported that their auto catchers fail to capture Pokémon when the game isn’t in focus, attributing this problem to the recent 0.331.0 update.
A Trainer known as “SirWobblyOfSausage” (we’re not kidding, that’s their Reddit username) reached out to us, requesting we highlight this issue in hopes of catching Niantic’s attention. Here’s a summary of the problem as described and largely validated by community feedback:
Following the update from version 0.329.2 to 0.331.0, all GO Plus devices cease functioning when the game is not actively in use. If you switch tasks or lock your screen, the device disconnects within a minute. Upon reopening the game, it resumes normal operation.
Our reader mentioned they attempted the following solutions:
- Checked background app usage settings
- Disabled battery optimization
- Turned off power-saving mode
- Disabled “Do Not Disturb”
- Verified notification settings
- Reset all devices
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- Reset the phone twice
- Downgraded from Android 15 to Android 14
- Purchased a new GO Plus+ device
Despite these efforts, the issue remains unresolved on both a Samsung Flip 5 and their partner’s Pixel Pro 9 XL.
If you possess a GO Plus or GO Plus+, brace yourself for potential difficulties after updating to 0.331.0. Niantic has enforced this latest update, limiting what can be done at this point. We’ll keep you informed on any
