Apple, headquartered in California, unveiled the Apple Watch Series 10 at the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on September 9. The new model features a sleek Polished Titanium finish that is lighter and more streamlined than previous versions. The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to become available for purchase on September 20. The company has opted not to announce a successor to the Watch Ultra 2 released last year, in line with forecasts from TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo had predicted in October of last year that Apple would not be launching the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in 2024. His latest prediction indicates that Apple is postponing the release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 to 2025. Kuo also predicts an update for the Apple Watch SE, which has not received any changes since its second-generation debut three years ago.
As per Kuo’s recent updates on X (formerly Twitter), the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the third-generation Apple Watch SE are anticipated to be released in the third quarter of 2025. This timeframe is consistent with Apple’s typical schedule for releasing new smartwatch and smartphone models. The new devices may be launched in conjunction with the upcoming iPhone 17 series, expected to succeed the recently released iPhone 16 lineup.
According to Kuo’s October 2023 prediction, Apple has not initiated development for a successor to the Watch Ultra 2. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revised his forecast prior to the recent event, indicating that Apple would unveil a new color option for the current Watch Series 2.
Kuo’s analysis indicates that the absence of a new Apple Watch Ultra model in 2024 may lead to a substantial decline in shipments for the flagship watch, possibly up to 30 percent year-on-year, and a 10 percent reduction in total Apple Watch shipments.
